The dominant feature of the town of Frýdek-Místek, the Frýdek Castle, formerly defending the town on the border between Moravia and Silesia, has been standing on a high hill above the Ostravica River since the 14th century. The chateau is currently the seat of the Beskydy Frýdek-Místek Museum, a contribution organization of the Moravian-Silesian Region. The Beskydy Museum is open year-round and offers visitors five permanent exhibitions, short-term exhibitions, study library services, participation in various educational activities (Senior Gymnasium, museum lessons for schools, lectures, guided tours, excursions) and a rich cultural program in the form of concerts, theater performances, festivals or events for families with children. Visit the Beskydy Museum and get to know the traditions, personalities, history, art and nature of the striking Beskydy region.
